On May 9th the Berkshire group saw its largest number of attendees for a talk given by Denzil Lush on the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Although it was necessary to change the venue at fairly short notice in order to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend, the group felt this was well worth it.
We were provided with very comprehensive notes, light hearted comment and guidance upon the new Act, together with useful internet links for further information.
Very positive feed back was given by all who attended. We hope to see as many, if not more, attendees for our next meeting on 14th August when John Thurston will be speaking to us about the effect of the changes made by the Finance Act 2006, tax efficient Will drafting with concentration on the nil rate band discretionary trust scheme and reference to the recent Phizackerely decision, the use of the family home in tax efficient Will drafting, advising clients retiring abroad, lifetime gifting, second homes to name but a few!
